Title: Thunderchief build report.
Post by: jrc4558 on March 26, 2004, 12:20:18 AM
Attempt unsuccessful.

After trying at least 4 diff kinds of J-fets (but not J201, which i don't have) I can't make it work. The first stage itself gives a very faint and quiet output, with the trimmer at 100k full. HOWEVER!When I increase the value of the resistor that is parallel to .68mF cap in the first stage, the volume goes up! I had thesame case with Odie. Had to use 10k resistors instead of 1k as suggested.

What can be the problem?

Check the pinout of your FETs... On the schematic, looking at the symbol, top D, middle G, bottom S. Adjust for your FETS as needed

I think the only fet that can be used in these type of circuits are the J201 to garanty some sort of succes. Others will be an experiment, and may require component changes.
