Title: little gem... mk1 :)
Post by: vdm on March 26, 2004, 07:27:52 AM
hey everyone,
an ageing and some would say 'superseded' circuit but i finally put a jack on the output instead of hardwiring to the little radio speaker. i plugged in the 12 inch celestion in my marshall avt100 and with the chip set to minimum distortion the output control completely removed, and a les paul in my hands i was playing at levels higher than i would ever really use at home!
the thing was pretty loud (especially for something with like 6 parts) and when i put my new bluesbreaker in front of it and cranked the gain i could only turn the volume up about half way before it was too loud to handle in my room!!!
my next plan is to build the LGmkII with 2 chips for twice the volume... and put in an onboard booster to really push the chip hard. i might put a little eq on, cuz without a proper eq i get a very heavy mids sound, and while i love my mids, it sounds just a little to nazal for me.
hopefully ill be able to try it with a 4x12 soon as well, so that should be fun.
anyone have ideas for other mods to make to the pedal (aside from an input buffer - im replacing that with the booster)
thanks, to the guys at run off groove, and everyone else round here that helps out so much.

That's great to hear.  I agree, Little Gem is still a worthwhile circuit, offering a different tone and feel than Ruby.

I'm glad that you're enjoying it!
