Title: Shin Ei Uni Vibe issues
Post by: rickc on March 26, 2004, 03:16:41 PM
Here’s my situation, I have 2 Shin Ei Uni Vibes with only one foot
cotroller. So I’m building a 2nd controller.  The problem is that the
effect of the uni vibe isn’t as strong with the  pedal I built. I’ve
used 4 different 100k dual ganged pots (just like  the original). One
of them is the one that Fulltone puts in their Deja2.  I’ve even
measured the DC resistance of the new pots and the original  pot and
they’re practically identical. I’ve used linear and audio taper.  All
the wiring is correct.  I’m pretty much at my wits end on this.
Can you think of anything that I’m overlooking?

Are you using a guitar(sheilded) cable or something more akin to speaker wire to run the controller to the effect? Could be an impedence issue.

I'm using a 5 conductor cable. Not sure if its shiekded or not. The cable that's on the original isn't shielded.

I think it is supposed to be audio taper. Pots on a box are reverse audio, but because of the way they turn in a footpedal, normal audio was used.

Have you visited R.G.'s univibe info at http://geofex.com/ or JC's stuff here http://www.lynx.net/~jc/pedals.html

Maybe one or the other will post here.

I have a box full of pots pulled from '70's stereos scavanged for parts. Tons of dualganged stuff. If you want to PM what is written on the original (and maybe a photo), we may be able to find something to experiment with...

Good luck!
