Title: Boss DS-1 --parallel diode question???
Post by: akozols on March 27, 2004, 10:29:16 PM
HI,

I want to do a variation of the Keeley SEM mod.  I already did the caps and replaced one diode with the LED.  I want to do a quick way to switch between the two diode setup and the diode/LED setup.

Here's my idea.  To describe what I'm talking about, I'll break the clipping section into two sides; one side will have the diode and the other side will be switchable.  On the side that's switchable, I want to have the diode and led wired parallel(both biased the same direction).  The parallel pair will have a switch wired in series with the diode.  My thinkning is that with the switch open, the LED will have a higher headroom.  When I swithc in the diode, it will clamp down the headroom and act just like the original diode/diode clipping.

Does this make sense/ will it work?

thanks,

al

Yep, that'll work, no worries.  Smart thinking.

Cool, thanks.  Sometimes I can only hear the difference in things if I can quickly switch between them.

thanks,
