Title: can't understand my FF problem..
Post by: bbackchang on March 31, 2004, 08:17:14 PM
I made Boutique FF with this schematic -www.generalguitargadgets.com/v2/diagrams/fuzzface_b_sc_pp.gif
I used matched Ge-TR and suggested R value..

It give great sound when i first turn on.

But When i push the switch for turn on, sometimes it come out after a few second or few minute MUTE.. or forever.
In truth it make too low level to hear.. (When i make my amp full volume it give noisy sound)

The only solutin is wait a long time or
when ff is on, change polarity opposite a moment and turn normal..

I can't understand my FF problem..  :(
It give Cool sound when it's normal..

Thanks.

You have an electrolytic capacitor inserted into the circuit backwards.

As know it use just 3 Capacitor..
I use Tantal for 2.2uF. But  I think it can't make problem..

I have checked polarity and changed new capacitor several time..
Today i will try again.

Fuzz is simple and complex.  Thanks  :D

Just a blind guess...Battery Voltage is good?
I would try to avoid reverse polarity on the supply for the transistors if possible.
Try taking the Voltages...Emitter, Base, and Conductor of the two transistors from ground.
Check all your ground points to the battery clip ground.
You said you're worried about closeness' on the bottom of the board...just set the DMM to "beep' mode, and check from one socket pin to the next adjacent pin. checking that there are no shorts between the transistor pins.
 Post the Pin voltages here.
