Title: I'd like to build a "Stutter" box.. any ideas?

Pretty much a switch that mutes the signal when you press it, and unmutes it when you step off...

Would I really need anything besides the switch and the input/output jacks?

Momentary switch might be a little quicker than the latching type if you're intending to do this.

My son plays Bass and I mounted a normally closed momentary switch in his bass before going out of guitar to amp.   He loves it!  The faster you can click it, the faster it stutters.

Peace!

Hmmm I remember using two SPDT switches, one momentary stompswitch and one toggle to change between NC and NO. So you had a stutter design that was versatile. Either no signal when not pressed, or no signal when stomped... really handy, I haven't made that yet due to an absence of momentary SPDT stompswitches in Holland ;)

wouldn't it be easier to handle a les paul like switch? i mean like the one that lets you select between treble and rhythm, instead of a button? so you can stutter a la tom morello  :D

gtrmac-
Did you do a search for previous discussions on that circuit?

I thought there were some unresolved problems with it (can't remember specifically what they were, tho). yes/no?

Yes and no. The series version is prone to clicking, as I thought it might be. The shunt version should be good - although, as I stated, I've not put the entire thing together, just fragments.

I tried that.. after seeing van halen do it.. I don't like doing that, though.. plus, I use both pckups a lot... and I don't to put any extra switches on my guitar...
