Title: has anyone built the pt-80 from ustomp?
Post by: marrstians on April 06, 2004, 05:36:55 PM
has anyone built the pt-80 from ustomp? most of the schematic looks similar to the one at GGG but it seems the power section is different... it looks like it runs on 9 volts instead of 18-24 volts... would this effect the sound differently?

i built a 9v version of the GGG schematic, and it sounds incredible...i have a vintage memory man,and the pt80 is the preferred one on my pedalboard...

I built a PT-80 and tried to run it off a 9v battery.  I ended up switching to the suggested power supply because after the battery drained down a littlle, the circuit started soundy crappy.  I think that my compander was not happy running at a relatively low voltage.  Other compandors may be content at lower voltages.

Best of luck
