Title: Ldr Current
Post by: petemoore on April 07, 2004, 12:59:33 AM
Would an LDR [I think like RS had] stand being put on the output of a 15w rated SS amplifier?
Thinking of trying a stereo tremolo off of a mono amp.

All the LDRs I can get hold of, despite having high MAX voltage ratings, have pretty low power ratings.

How were you going to use it?  Perhaps there's an alternative/better method that can be used...

The problem is, the LDR has a fairly high resistand\ce (even when ON) compared to the 4 or 8 ohm output of an amp.
If you want a stereo effect, you will need two amps, or a much lower impedance switching network. A pair of horns, wiht a driver mechanically switching between the4m via eg a vane, might do.
