I have a Yamaha Motif6, and would like an expression pedal for it, don't know whether to buy one or just try making one.
If it's just a treadle on a pot with a stereo jack or something like that, would probably be easy enough to make one.
Does anyone know about these things? What's in one?
Take a look in Zoom expression pedal: (http://www.diystompboxes.com/pedals/zoom1.jpg)
Thanks Munky, I can follow that.
I'm starting with a 100k.
If all else fails, I need a volume pedal for the Motif anyway !!!
Trick part is getting that pot to dial 'itself' when a treadle pedal moves..alot of work, but can be done !

Ah... My crappy drawing come back to haunt me  .
That probably won't work with a Yamaha unit. Zoom pedals have the "output" of the pot going to the ring, most other stuff seems to have it going to the tip. Like so...

When I bought a Nobels MF-2 MIDI foot controller a few years ago the control pedal that I had been using with a Zoom unit didn't work properly with it.
A quick email to Nobels tech support got the recommendation of a Yamaha control pedal or a pot value of 47k LIN wired up as shown. Since this is what works perfectly with the Nobels unit I would guess it would work with a Yamaha as well.

Haha...I sent that file to Aron, maybe 4 years ago. I can't remember where I got it, but it helped me and many others, here --thanks '8)'

It helped me too, I built a LDR version for a friend.
