Title: wierd AMZ booster problem
Post by: arielfx on April 08, 2004, 11:42:50 AM
i thought to build this one on a real board after it came out great on breadboard.
i don't know why but when i turn it on there's a volume drop and it seems that the pot. is not doing too much of a difference in controling the output.
i double checked everything and all seems to be ok. anyone got an idea what is wrong over here?

are you talking about amz MiniBooster?  what type of Fet are you using? did you modify any value?
I've built 3 of them for me and friends and they all worked from the very beginning, except once when I used BF245B fet (no problem at all with J201 and 2n5457)

i am building the amz mosfet booster with a bs170. i used the values from GGG because they seem to give the right voltage.

Are you playing with the value of R2 as suggested? Mine was doing exactly what you are describing until I got the correct voltage at point A by tweaking R2. I used a 100k pot to get in working and then measured the R of the pot. Once I did that it sounded fantastic.
