Title: OT: BF-2 mojo?
Post by: Hal on April 08, 2004, 12:16:35 PM
I was thinking about buying a BF-2 off e-bay.  They seem kinda cheap, and I like 'em.  Something weird/fun to play with...

I was wondering what you guys know about the differances between the older ones and the newer ones.  The old, japanese ones only seem to be about $40 on e-bay...do they have any mojo the new ones dont?

THanks :-D

They probably use different BBDs.  The MN3207 replaces the MN3007 over time.  The MN3207 can run off a lower supply voltage and also has supply polarity reversed relative to the MN3007.  Should be absolutely no difference in tone.  One's as bland as the other.

....although they can both be modded in similar fashion.  $40 isn't a bad price to pay.  Just don't expect BMW for Chevy Cavalier prices.

I think you wouldn't regret it for that prize. A friend of mine has one and I like it. You can always improve it by using better compontents ala Keeley.

Bypass from this thing sucks a bit. The schem is on the net, see for yourself. But that can be improved to.
