Title: Fuzz Face Volume too loud
Post by: dosmun on April 10, 2004, 03:37:06 PM
I built the Boutique FF a week or so ago and didn't have a switch to bypass it.  Today I put it in a bypass loop that I had and the Volume is CRANKIN.  Even with the volume knob all of the way down it is still louder than the bypassed signal.  What might I try to reduce this?  I wired in pots for R4 and R5 but it doesn't really do much for the Volume problem.  I have triple checked my VOL pot wiring many times as well.

I am also looking to get more Fuzz  out of it.

across the outside lugsof the output pot...
Use a resistor +/- the size of the output pot and tie it to the outside lugs.
If you have a 100k output pot using a 100k paralleled to the resistive element of the pot essentially makes it a 50k pot, which in this case will let more signal shunt to ground/less signal gets out.
 If you used a 500k outputpot try a 100k.
Resistance to ground anywhere in the signal path will attenuate, however in the FF, certain parts [the middle?] of the ccts bias might be disrupted by a resistive path to ground.
