DMM failure, 10k failure and rip out and re-do of part fo the second half of the SD-1, and It's Working !!!
All knobs work, the sound is good Except, Except when between notes, intermodulation occurs. Also chords, and the whole thing seems it may be 'mushed' by 'it'.
The noise floor when idle is low enough.
I used the GM arts schematic using a LM386 for PS divider. +to pin 6, -to pin 4, 4.5v to pin 5.
Would an output buffer, or power supply [say ~100uf across From Gnd to 9v+] capacitor help this problem?
Any ideas...
Darn thing sounds real nice, nicely voiced, 4558 I have is more output than the TL072, and quite a bit different.
It sounds so good it must be beyond needing much help/
The Tube amp I use to test is what was actin' lil' funny...hafta replace repair [I love that little RCA Victor[ or get some other test amp setup.
Tried the SD=1 with the lovely voltage readings on the OA pins, on the test jig, upstairs to the MkII for further diagnoses...The very recent TS build was doing the same thing [so I started to suspect the amp or reverb]...long story short, the SD-1 sounds great, different and probably even will see more use than my last one !!!
I officially retract my statement about OA distortions VS Transistor...I'm Really getting to like the OA TS's, SD-1's, Etc...I'm looking a little bit for a cheap DS-1 to mess with next.
I still haven't gotten a Dist+ I really like all that much. Not from lack of trying...
