Title: NTE 458
Post by: Jered on April 11, 2004, 05:59:41 PM
Hi guys,
to my ears these have more gain than J201's and I know NTE doesn't manufacter these which brings me to my question. Does anybody have any idea what these are originally? Before NTE prints thier own number on them. Or any idea how I could find out ewhat these are originally?
 Thanks for any help.

One of the troubles with NTE is that they buy surplus lots from a variety of places so you can never tell where they came from (and neither can they for that matter). I've heard some wanky stories about NTE parts with "updated" printing on them too. If they can be subbed for another part, NTE doesn't seem to care what they were originally, only what they can be used for now.

Take care,
-Peter

Yes I noticed the same thing, the 458's I tried in...boosters etc. Did play louder than j201's in limited testing.

I started to say that maybe they are J202's, but the ones I have are built with fatter rounder cases and a different pin out???
