Title: Ross Compressor Sustain Problem
Post by: henryleee2001 on April 19, 2004, 05:55:12 PM
Hi guys I have recently built a Ross compressor and I am finding that when I turn the sustain to 3 o'clock or more I get a drop in signal and then a distorted sound. Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this.

At one point I had no signal so I went over all the solder joints again. I now have a signal but this unusual sound when the sustain is pass 3 o' clock.

The level works fine.

In need of help!

HL

One thing I have noticed is that the capacitor C2 when I measure the resistance I get zero ohms and not infinte ohms, does this mean that the capacitor has blown.

Thanks

best advice I can give you is to do a Search for any threads posted by Jay Doyle relating to the Dynacomp (which is basically the same circuit as the Ross.

In one of them he gave the expected voltages on the transistors; it helped transform my very ordinary sounding dynacomp into something sensational (thanks, Jay!)

If you find his thread, it will at least give you a good starting point.

if you're using the DC setting on your multimeter, then yes.
