I was checkin that site out last night, pretty interesting, looks like a cool unit, I have somthin that might be cool to look at also,
I worked on several old fender amps for a guy that moved here from Calf., He lived next door to Leo, and his Pal was Freddie Tavares, Freddie supposedly gave him a 58 Bassman amp and he had a lot of backyard pictures of Leo and Freddie, so maybe he was tellin the truth ? Who knows?
But this amp had a Solidstate vibrato unit wired in to it as a add/on, he was selling the amp and the guy wanted it to be stock, so he had me remove it, then he gave the piece to me for helping him out on his amp collection, maybe you guy's would like a look at this piece and maybe I could try and draw up a schemo on it.

That's a great idea! :D

I'll bet the circuit is the classic phase shift oscillator and neon driver found in classic Fender amps. The output of that circuit is an LDR that can be used to shunt the audio to ground. Simple and elegant!

Take care,

I already have a $200 external trem (Supa-Trem) and I'm interested!

I think if you had the skills to hook one of those into your power and bias supply, you have the skills to make your own. For maybe $30 tops!

Just take the layout from a Fender wiring diagram.

Here is a reverb I put in my Champ:

All scavanged and junkbox parts, and it sounds great!

I'll bet it's an exact copy of the regular fender tremolo.  Look here for R.G.'s solid state replacement:

I'm planning on putting this in my DIY Bassman.
The reviews seem a little supspect in my opinion, and also misleading.  Blackface fenders don't have choppy tremolo, and I can bet it does use an opto-isolator.  And then the last review tries to get you to think it does more than amplitude modulation  .
