Hello,
I would really like to start to design some of my own stompboxes for fun.
Let's say I have a general cookbook circuit, can anyone give me any suggestions on what needs to be done/modified to make it work for guitar.
I am also thinking of trying to do some dsp stuff with PICs  .
So nothing needs to be done.
However, on the other hand..upping the gain could make it more desirable for guitar use, Adding diodes from signal output to ground might be interesting.
Try using a smaller input cap for greater percentage of treble at output.

Not true I've tried circuits from those McGraw-Hill circuit encyclopedias and one of a VCLPF off a manufacturers data sheet with unpredictable results.
They actually work just a they were supposed to on the bench with test equipment (except the VC-LPF, which was buggy) but when I directly plugged in a guitar  .
I'm a Richard...you did say 'work',,,very general term.
Depends on what...I just decided to play devils advocate and say should work.
I tend to opt for guitar gear for guitar, the 'original' guitar amp efkt stuff was mostly circuits intended for other uses, adapted, or not, and used for guitar.
The question is so vague I can't tell if any of this is True or untrue.
Work...yes, work well and do exactly what you like it to...I don't remem reading an application or original cct so I just say 'should work'...then added some related or unrelated mod type stuff.
without a reference schematic or general idea of what 'it' is or 'would' be, or general description, 'should work' is about as specific as I can get.

I did say "work for guitar" seems specific enough to me. I am not asking a question on a specific circuit because I am looking for
general information.
I was thinking in general terms, like some effects should use an input buffer to match up impedances, frequency ranges that should be designed for, input & output voltage ranges, etc. I was planning on putting up my own little DIY fx site :| .
Nevermind I will just figure it out myself
