Title: I'm gonna share the stainless enclosure idea. BillyJ
Post by: Bluesgeetar on April 20, 2004, 07:34:22 PM
Can't seem to get the PM response thing to work to get the response to BillyJ on what these enclosures are.

So anyway, been married to a Korean Girl for 11 years.  Married her at 18 fresh out of bootcamp.  They have very different shaped bowls and such for serving.  In Korea stainless rules for general household serving of Pahn chahn (small little bowls of side dishes of all differnt kinds)  There are many different sizes and depths of these bowls between 1"-3" in depth and 3"-7" in diameter is about average.  They are made of thick stainless steel polished. and have no ridges.  I have never seen anything like them in American dish and departement stores not even gourmet cookery stores in downtown Seattle.  I have only seen them in Korean grocery stores.  They are beautiful and I haven't seen any newer pedals put into anything that is even close to as pretty as they are.  They are perfect shaped to use as enclosures.  They are only 99 cents to a about a $1.99 each, maybe up to 2.99 for the larger ones at 7".

I been going to Lowes and using their tin cutter setup to cut perfect circles for the bottom.  I make little tabs for screws to hold the plate.  Then the fun of drilling stainless!  They look very very much like those cheap Japanese FuzzFace knock offs from the late 60s early 70s only the metal ain't gonna bend or buckle.  You'll crush one of those Hammond boxes before you'll crush one of these.  Front tire of my old Bronco 4X4 couldn't crush it.  So I hope BillyJ sees this.  These are a hell of alot cheaper than Hammonds.  But the catch is you gotta live close to a large Korean community, I mean large.  Atlanta, LA, Seattle, Chicago, New York.  My wife thinks I'm insane for drilling perfectly good bowls for serving.  Then I showed her the price difference between them and Hammonds and she shut up.  If anyone can't seem to locate a Korean store with them let me know via PM and we'll see if we can't work something out.

I don't have anyway to post pics so SOL there.  I have a dig camera but no web pic posting ability.

I want to see them, if you could take pics and email them to me at colin@experimentalistsanonymous.com I'd host them on my site.  I'm always interested in new enclosure ideas!

Er I should say I can't work stainless into usable shapes.
Sure would make a perfect [functionally at least] enclosure material.

Hey Paul Perry.  No none of them look like those on that page.  One was close but it has a pinched edge. These do no have pinched edges that are straight making them perfect for a FF type shaped pedal.  I'm working on getting my dig camera figured out.  I just got it.

Pinched means they have a little lip around the edge of the bowl.  I don't like these.
