Title: can i use two mono jacks for input/output?
Post by: hubble on April 23, 2004, 09:04:28 PM
using a 3pdt switch, im trying to wire two mono jacks (neutrik/re'an slimline).

ps im working with the ross comp pcb.  having trouble locating the 9v+ and input.

the 3pdt wiring schem i got from GGG says the top ring on the DC jack goes to 9V+.  and the bottom middle lug on the switch goes to input.

For output, a mono jack is fine.

You can use a mono jack for input, but a stereo jack is usually used so that the effect turns on only when you have an instrument cord plugged into the input - if you use a mono jack it's much easier to drain a battery by forgetting to switch an effect off.

I used to have an old big muff that did this, it had a switch on the top that turned off the battery. I thought it was kind of cool b/c if you didn't have a power supply, you could just leave it plugged in the pedalboard and not have to unplug a cable to shut off the battery.
