Post by: Sic on April 23, 2004, 09:05:28 PM
Yes!

Got it working, had some random transistors, tested the hfe for one around 300-350 and found just the right on... it sounds AMAZING!!!

This is an awesome pedal, and so simple too, i honestly think i like this better than my DS-1, although it might just be causse i built it.

wooo

thanks for the advice, and whoever suggested the easy drive

Cool, higher gain transistors give you more distortion in this circuit. May be able to Darlington (google it) two lower gain transistors, provided a 10k resistor is placed between the emitters of Q1 and Q2. Might be good for people who can't get 2N5089's and need more fuzz.

I think Jack Orman had something like the Easy Drive (Muffer?), both are basically modded Big Muff gain stages. The .01 cap in the feedback loop of the Easy Drive works most of the magic, by raising the gain just a touch more without an excessively large feedback resistor.

It gets a good classic rock sound for me, kinda like a TS9 or whatever. But not $150 =)
