ok here is everything that is printed in the transistor:

C549C

ph () 9

im not sure about the brackets thing thats what it looks like

any help would be appreciated.

What does Your DMM's Hfe [if it has one] meter say?

I'm almost sure that this is a BC549C transistor. They have high gain (the kind that I like :P).
