Title: Boosting MXR Envelope Filter?
Post by: crawler486 on April 28, 2004, 08:14:46 AM
I just built the MXR EF.  Im pleased with the effect but
the problem is the severe volume drop.

How can I remedy this?

The "build reports" at Tonepad cover this, either add a linebooster circuit or change some resistors, are the suggestions there.

They said add an LPB booster...
but the problem is the 2n5088 transistor that is not available here.

do u know any boosters that uses OP Amp instead?

a 2n5088 is not exactly needed. what the circuit needs is a high gain npn transistor - anything like a bc549c, pn100, or something like this...

im not sure where you're located but in australia i cant seem to find them either, but the above are what i use - just be careful of the pinout as they do vary...

good luck,

trent

I can get pn100.  Are u sure it'll work just like the stock?
