I have been fooling around with several Dano pedals, and have made several alterations to the DaddyO. Just two component changes gives to these ears an improvement in the distortion quality.
They are(if any one is interested) (1)Replace or add 10uF cap in place of the 200nF cap feeding the the 1K resistor which in turn drives the LED diode clipper. (2)Replace one of the LEDs with a single small single diode with the right polarity, or remove altogether(more dynamic). Thats it.
PS the schem posted (Russian???) has several mistakes. Basically it is a copy of the Marshall Govnor 2 pedal but with the EQ section scaled down by a factor of 10 ???.

I suspect that the buffering in the Daddy-O also causes the sound to be a lot brighter and more bottom-deprived than the Guv'nor.
More Daddyo mods. I thought the Russian schem was mostly accurate. I didn't find much variance. Anyway, here's the mods I did that I think give a nice Blues sound at a low level:

More ideas for anybody interested. I think that basic circuit is crap and hard to rescue. The opamps clip, and those harmonics do come through even thought it is heavily clipped by the diodes after the opamps.
Unless you can find an opamp that clips gracefully, I think it's hard to consider this a good OD, IMHO....for what you pay, and the crappy plastic pots and ugly box....all my opinion, but the guy I modded it for said ANYTHING was an improvement to it, so what I did helped beef it up a bit and made it a little bit nicer sounding.
