I have a couple of these Arion Tubulators and although they come in a cheapo plastic box they actually sound as good as the TS pedals IMHO and I was wondering if they are basically the same circuit as they appear very similar to look at and have the JRC4558 opamp, I then wondered if they would benefit from the same mods as the TS pedals etc.
The circuit is supposed to be very similar, but do they have a lot of SM components?

Being a bit of a novice tinkerer I'm not sure what you mean by SM
SM....Surface Mount. Musicians Friend has it for $14.99. They seem to rotate the price special amongst the Arion pedals. Right now its the tubulator and Mono Distortion, which is probably a DS-1 clone. $30 for two pedals, can't beat that for modding, experimenting, and plain old practice.

Thats a great price Fretwire but unfortunately they dont ship certain items outside the US including Arion and the cheapest I've seen here new in the UK is £29.95 and thats approx $54 :x
This really boils me up ...
I tried to buy a Danelectro Chicken Salad (the vibe-ey one). Musicians Friend had em on special at $21.95 and regular price $29.95. But wont ship to UK.
Cheapest I found in UK was £49.99 (there were cheaper about but had "No stock" - yeah, right). THATS $89.95 FOR GODS SAKE.
What we in the UK need is, ahem, a friend in the US, who could ship stuff for us (for a fee  natch).
I am so tired of getting ripped in this country .... <rant/off>
Torchy, !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thanks for that more than overdue rant, we get taken to the cleaners in this country with everything from Effects to petrol  just means that someone in the US can buy 3 Tubulators to the price of our one and still have change back, is that annoying or what !!!
Thanks ... erm BD13UK (?)
I'm on a crusade to find the cheapest suppliers in UK at the moment and Maplin are RIGHT off my xmas card list
When I find good deals I'll post them on here. I already found a cheap supplier for Hammond boxes (under a fiver) ... the quest continues
I have the stereo distortion, and it seems to be full of JFets, no diodes.
Yes Torchy !!!! there are two Maplin shops in Glasgow where I live and apart from becoming as you say rather expensive everytime I go in with a list of 10 items I'm fortunate to leave wth 4 as they always seems to be out of stock of the most basic requirements.
