Post by: { antonio } on May 04, 2004, 09:06:15 PM
does anyone know where i can find red circuit boards.

i had seen one at school on a xilinx board and wanted to know if anyone here knew of a distributor or had used one in a design.

thanks.

If you do find any, you can go into the jewellery business:

now that's REAL "value added"  :D

I've seen alot of cool PCB colors in computer gear that's aimed at gamers.  The gold and blue colors are nice, but red is definitely the most impressive!  I'm pretty sure it's just a tinted solder mask (?) that gives them their color.  I actually saw a manufacturer that offered a choice of solder mask colors (including red) but I'm not sure if they did small runs.

Perhaps it's possible to purchase different colored solder masks that can be applied to home-etched PCBs.

yeah i think its in video cards, extreme gaming performance stuff...
and casing modifications, transparent casing showing off the insides .... special lightings, etc...

but I must say, red pcb would be nice !

"extreme performance pedals", heh with thick clear sturdy arcylic casings, leds inside the casing showing off the circuits ( and of course the "ultrarare" 80s JRC4558DD). with red hot pcb lurking....hmm perhaps custom painted pots (the bottom of them!) and heck, the resistors/opamps/caps/transistors all can be custom painted ! mmmm

seriously though, I'm sure it'll sell!

Yeah, it's crossed my mind too.  Imagine cutting out a section of a hammond enclosure and installing a perspex window so you can see the guts.  You could even use UV reactive paint and install a UV LED inside.

You've gotta admit...these guys make electrical comonents look cool!
