Title: Latching Effects
Post by: Shawk on May 07, 2004, 09:20:09 PM
What is the most common wiring method for controlling rackmount effects that use a 1/4" female jack?

What I mean is, using a SPDT switch, does grounding out the common engage the effect "on" or opening the circuit turn it on?

Thanks

i think both are common...i know that the Boss lathing pedal has a switch to reverse the circuit.  Check the manuel of what you're trying to make it for, or just try both ways and see what works.

many (most?) times, shorting to ground activates the switching circuitry;

some stay on, as long as the connexxion to ground exists,
others just switch state (on/off), when the "tip" is shorted to the "sleeve"
for a moment.
