Title: Transistor Suffixes?
Post by: Adam Shame on May 14, 2004, 09:35:20 PM
Do transistor suffixes (is that what they are called ) have any meaning?  I mean, I'm looking through the Mouser catalog and I see for Fairchild  2N5089 transistors:

2N5089_J18Z
2N5089BU
512-2N5089D75Z

etc etc

Are they just codes the company uses or is there some meaning behind them?

TIA

Hi Adam,
Normally, the 2n#### is the device code, and after that is a date code, but you might wait and let someone that knows more on this subject answer your Q.

goto Fairchildsemi.com and look up 2n5809 package marking information (http://www.fairchildsemi.com/TopMarkSearch/opn_all.jsp?stat=2N5089).
