Title: Erk Crapton Mid-Boost
Post by: Lonestarjohnny on May 16, 2004, 03:28:15 PM
Can anyone thats built this give some transistor voltage reading's for comparison to see if this thing is workin right or not, it seems to be working properly now, I went back to the Blue Guitar Shematic on this circuit and did some changing, I also looked at the Schematic in the archive's here, and I wired the Second stage like it's wired in the archive's,
Now I'm getting a good midrange boost outa the pedal and not a lot of overdrive, it sounds closer now to the E.C. mid boost in a Fender guitar,
I used 2N4123's and a 2N4125 for Q 4.
on the first stage which I assume is the Buffer,I got Q1-C-4.60, B-1.66, E-1.20.
There after the voltages get wierd.
Thanks,
JD

It's a little late in my life to worry about who I sound like, Me I hope, as for the pedal, I was looking for somethin that gave a big fat mid boost and I found it, works like a charm, Totally made my lil day,

If you're not getting a lot of overdrive, it's working properly.  It's not supposed to overdrive, just boost.

Mmm.  I think one of those would go really nicely shoehorned into a wah pedal with a toggle switch on the side between wah and Claptoboost--use the pedal the way Slowhand uses that knob.

BTW, has anyone ever had an opportunity to compare the Clapton circuit with other mid-boosts, say the Anderton, or a TS w/out diodes?

Ben, I built mine in stompbox just get more mid's on the leads, and it does a great job of that, as far as overdriven, it just put's a small growl in it if you attack it smartly, very cool for what I wanted. 8)
