this thing rocks!!!!!
i used a LDR to control the sweep and actually i find it easier to use than my friends crybaby
the only problem is that when i touch the strings i get lots of popping sounds,
is this because i didnt use the pull-down resistor?(only had 1 1M resistor :D )
other than that though build it, before you spend lots of money on a crybaby, try this first!!
thanks to Tim Escobedo
Pulldown resistors like drain any collected energy the DC blocking caps store [some do this], preventing the pop heard by a switch...if the effect is popping in the on mode, these probably have nothing to do with that.
Sounds more like a missed ground connection [?].
I don't think the popping noises are because of the lack of a pull down resistor, as far as I know. Are you playing a Strat with a single-ply pickguard? I have one, and I get popping noises because the pickguard builds up a static charge somehow - the fingers on my right had that aren't holding the pick are usually resting on the body, or in the case of my Strat, on the pickguard. So, I get the popping noises. :(
Just a thought...
im playing a strat, but it has a 3 ply pickguard; i get popping noises on all my effect though, they were just more pronounced with this one
It could be the guitar... I have been trying to figure out a way to get rid of that annoying static build-up thing, but haven't come up with anything yet.
Have you ever noticed any static charge on your pickguard before? It might be doing it without you realizing it.
