Title: Straight 8 ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! PIN IC
Post by: petemoore on May 21, 2004, 04:02:37 PM
I've never seen one 'till close up just now...well I saw a photo of one on a DS-1, but I couldn't see to make out that it's straight 8, just like the one in my DS-1, which I opened today.
Hmmm, not exactly the common dual OA. that I'd evnisioned socketting...
So I'm in the dark...what's the given name to this shape/type IC?
And 5532's are available that fit the inline connections?? Also 4558...
Anyone ever try fitting a standard dual OA in one?
Ok help with the references? ...I would suppose the chip has the dot marking pin 1, and the hookups would be for any dual OA...
 Pin 1. output A
 Pin 2. - A input
      3. + A input
      **
      **  }like any dual
      **
      7. B output
      8. V+
Ok that's gotta be it...just mulling the '*Straight 8'
 Proper Term for: * ???
Just as well...RS just got 20 shipment boxes and 1/2 as many customers...no iron tips or desoldering braids   ...lol.
So like it is, Is not bad...Nice Seal, the inside is pristine.

They're called SIP (akin to DIP).

Type the # into the NTE online cross reference, you can get the pinout from that (www.nteinc.com)

The pinout of the Mitsu. M5223AL chip that's used in the new DS-1s is as follows:

Pin 1 = A Out  (Pin 1 is marked by the dot)
Pin 2 = A Input -
Pin 3 = A Input +
Pin 4 = V- (Ground)
Pin 5 = B Input +
Pin 6 = B Input -
Pin 7 = B Out
Pin 8 = Vin (9V)

This pinout matched the NJM5532L (made by New Japan Radio...the same company that makes the JRC4558D and JRC4558DD), which is available from Mouser and would work nicely in there if you ever decide to replace the IC with another to check for sound improvements.
