I bought a DC socket from DSE today, but I'm not sure if it's the right one for pedal powerin'.
The one I bought (http://www.dse.com.au/cgi-bin/dse.storefront/40aef603059b330a273fc0a87f9c06b2/Product/View/P1650) is a 2.5mm, but I just realised they also sell (http://www.dse.com.au/cgi-bin/dse.storefront/40aef603059b330a273fc0a87f9c06b2/Product/View/P1648) 2.1mm sockets. They were all jumbled into each other's boxes when I was at the store so I didn't realise there were 2 kinds! Do I need to haul my butt all the way back to the store to see if they stock the 2.1mm socket?
Also, do boss adapters have the + in the center or the - ?
Danke :o
Boss is 2.1mm with centre negative.
Crapapples indeed.... I've been there!
Thanks Paul! I hope they've got the 2.1mm in stock...because anything's possible with DSE. The sockets are just like the one's I've seen other people use, except they've got a plastic nut instead of metal.
Where are you situated, Bobbletrox? jaycar is usually a better bet.
I'm in Brisbane, and there's a Jaycar nearby...but they only seem to have metal, and rectangular plastic DC jacks. Although, I drill my boxes before they're powdercoated, so I wonder if the powdercoated holes would isolate a metal DC jack?
QuoteI wonder if the powdercoated holes would isolate a metal DC jack?
I wouldn't chance it. A small chip when you do the nut up could create a short to your case.
Whenever I shop at Jaycar and see those metal DC sockets I wonder why anybody would buy them? I also wonder why Jaycar's buyers haven't thought of stocking the insulated type?
