Title: Enclosed jacks
Post by: theaxeman on May 26, 2004, 09:18:52 AM
Hi

I am thinking of buying some (switchcraft) enclosed jacks for my next project, what difference will this make to the function of my peoject compared to standard, non-enclosed ones? also how do you tell which solder tag is tip, ring etc?

I've been using switchcraft enclosed jacks for a while and I'm content.  I think it keeps the wiring much neater and you don't have to worry about contacts shorting out to the chassis.  It's easy to  ID tip/sleeve tags...all you have to do is look inside the jack or just use the continuity tester on your multimeter.
