Title: Practice Amp?
Post by: nuttmeg1 on May 27, 2004, 05:08:57 PM
Hey guys,

Thank you for an amazing site! I'm still a newbie at this but, I'm having fun. I want to know if I could put any of the FET-based designs(Matchbox,
Thunderchief, etc...as found on www.runoffgroove.com) in front of a low-voltage power amp (TDA2006, TDA2040) to have a small practice amp.
Would the output be too high in gain? Would the low-pass filter section need to go? I'm also thinking of trying a FET version of a Soldano SLO-100 overdrive channel. I would love to hear your thoughts. Finally, is it possible to add a "double-time" rate switch to the EA Tremelo, like the one found on the Diaz Tremadillo or Fulltone Supa-Trem?

Thank you for your time,
Brian K. Nutter

i don't know about above stuff, but for tremelo, the EA one at ruffongroove. If you use that design, then just replace the 1k resistor with a swtich to switch between 1k and 2k (2k as normal, 1k as double

Thanks for the quick reply. I can't wait to try it.

wait... just thought about what i said. I won't double the current speed. It will increase the max speed. to double current speed, you could...get a dual ganged 100k pot for speed. normally both run in parallel, so half the value(50K), but then when you flip the switch you run only one, so you double the value(get 100K). Thats the best i can think of

Cool.
