Title: Stereo Memory Man repair question

Hey all,

I just got a stereo Memory Man off of ebay.  It was advertised as broken, but it turns out that the bbd chips were removed from it.  There are two empty sockets, so this obviously isn't the 4 SAD1024 version.  My question is this:  what chips are missing?  Is this likely to be the one with MN3005 chips?

It's weird that the chips were taken out of it - kinda points to other problems

There's a schemo of an EMM that has 2 MN3005s so it's looking that way.
Why don't you get a datasheet for the MN3005 and see if the dimensions match.  Also MN3005 is only 8 pin, whereas SAD1024 is 14 pin (I think) because it is really 2 512 BDDs on the same chip

Was there a Stereo MM with just two SAD1024's?  I can't find a schematic for it anywhere.  It does have two 14 pin sockets, though.

I agree that there may be other problems, but the transformer checks out okay and I can replace I can get replacement parts for the bbd chips.

Okay, so it's not the SAD1024, because the SAD1024 is a 16 pin chip.  These sockets are 14 pin.  It's not an MN3005, that's an 8 pin chip.

Does anyone have any ideas?  I haven't heard of any chips other than these two used in the older Memory Man series.

Does anyone have any ideas?  I haven't heard of any chips other than these two used in the older Memory Man series.

I have a very old EH Board I bought at a sale, it's a EH 1318, it has 2 14 pin chip's on the board, the No's are # SCL4013bb, # LM324N,I don't know if that might help you or not,

The MN3005 does only have 8 pins, but they are on a 14 pin long body. 2 pins on each corner.

Thanks for the help, I think I'm just going to make lemonade by pulling out the circuit and repainting the box.  It's got just enough holes and the correct transformer to house my Maestro S/H.

I didn't realize how the MN3005 looked.

so if the PCB didn't have any traces going to the middle 6 pins it'd have to be an MN3005 ....?

There are three pins on each side that are all tied to ground, so they must be MN3005's.
