Title: Need simple volume cutter circuit..
Post by: John Egerton on May 30, 2004, 05:03:08 PM
Hey guys.. not been on here for a while!

I was wondering if anyone can help me out with a little doodel of a simple circuit I need for my setup.

Basically I need a pedal that when bypassed, allows the guitar to play at its normal level. Then when it is engaged, it cuts the volume to a level given by a single pot...

Thats all.. Any help would be great...

Thanks guys..

John

Just use any booster pedal with a volume control (they all go down to zero...then up to 11).  If it's true bypass it'll give you normal level when kicked out.

Something like the volume control on a guitar then, i.e. large value pot?

You mean like a guitar volume control
Just true-bypass a 500k pot, input to lug 1, ground lug 3 and output from  lug 2 (wiper). Gonna play merry hell with your tone though, thats why the booster was suggested?

Audio transformer might help with loading issues (would lower impedance), but yes, it's going to affect your tone otherwise.
