Hi,
I am planning to run a Z Vex Nano Head (1/2 watt, 8 ohm tube power amp) into a Voodoo Lab Cabtone and am thinking of making a simple resistive load box for it. I'd like to know if I can just use two small 1/2 watt, 16 ohm resistors in parallel connected between the output and ground of a 1/4" plug and plug it into the speaker output of the Cabtone. Is it as simple as this?
Use a 1W to be safe, mind you the impedance will be a little different than a speaker. Maybe you can take a 1W speaker and un-cone it and use that as a loadbox :?
I would use something more like a single 8 ohm, 3 or 5 Watt resistor. You don't want that part fail.
I don't know how well the nanohead will respond to dumping into a resistor, but I would encourage you to ask Zach directly as he should be able to add some insight.
Also check this page out: http://www.aikenamps.com/spkrload.html That should be a bunch better than just a simple resistor and the amp may like it much better too. There's a ton of great info at http://www.aikenamps.com/
Take care,
