Title: new overdrive very happy
Post by: jneely on June 20, 2004, 12:16:04 PM
Hello

I had been looking for an overdrive pedal but couldn't really find one that hit the spot.

So I started a new design with the tube reamer from run off groove however , I got rid of the two pots in that circuit as well as changing values to suit my taste.

I then built a mosfet booster in front of that with a voltage divider/ vol pot to control how hard the preset 4558 was driven at the preset level.

I was trying for a one knob dredge tone theme. I however added another pot parallel to the first pot between the out of the booster and in of the 4558.

It sounds great, lot of sustain , not fizzy or fuzzy . only slight coloration.

Very happy.

Jeff

I should add I built a few of the designs you can find around here first.

I like the 4558 but I don't care for the tube screamer.

I wanted it to be simple and no tone control

Congratulations. Is always cool to try some experiments with effects.
