Title: laser decals
Post by: theaxeman on June 21, 2004, 08:05:47 AM
Hi

I got some of that laser decal paper from Small Bear recently, does anyone know how to print onto it. What paper type settings do you use?

The laser decal paper makes good decals.  What you want to do is print onto the glossy side of the paper.  I would recommend finding a high-quality copying machine, possibly at a Kinkos if you have one nearby.  You can also use a high quality office laser printer.  I'd use the high quality print settings, but make sure to print out a test sheet on regular paper to make sure it looks the way you want, and make sure to mark which side was "up" when you put it into the copier or printer so you'll know which way to put the decal sheet in.

Once you print it out, spray a coat of clear lacquer over the decal side to keep the toner from flaking when you put them onto the box.

I've used my lower-priced HP Laserjet laser printer, but the toner has these little "bubbles" which easily flake off, even after being coated with clear lacquer...gonna have to find a copying machine up here...

Hope this helps some
