Title: Great cheddar transistor gain?
Post by: markusw on June 23, 2004, 06:25:34 AM
Hi all,

I want to order the parts for the cheddar. For the transistors: the BC549 is available in three gain ranges A (110-220), B (220-450) and C (420-800). Which of them are the ones to be used :?:  :?: Does it make sense to use a Q2 with a higher gain than Q1 like in a fuzz face :?:  :?:

Thanks again for your help.

All the best,

Markus

Doesn't really matter.  I tried different transistor types and they generally sounded the same (very little difference), except the gating was different on the last tone select mode.  Go with the "C" (that's what I ended up using) or get all three and put them in sockets to experiment.
