Title: Feedback loop questions
Post by: nosamiam on June 27, 2004, 04:49:50 PM
Hi, newbie here...

I just got through building this http://www.geocities.com/austenfantanio/weedingout/Sonicdeathtutorial.htm

clone of Sonic Death's Total Sonic Annihilation pedal.  I've got a few questions.  I'm very new at this whole thing and still getting a grip on how to do what, and using what.

1)  If any of you have used this thing, you know that it can be VERY loud when the circuit is engaged.  Is there a good way to mod it so it is puts out a manageable volume level when it's doing its thing?  Or is this simply the nature of the beast: that it is loud because it is a feedback loop?

2)  It only has one knob.  I can't easily describe what it does.  Turned fully CCW, it gives me the 100% effects, minus feedback loop.  Turned fully CW, I get 100% feeback loop.  At least that's what it seems like.  The only pedal I'm using with it is a tremolo pedal... all the rest are at band's basement.  The problem is, the knob is only active at the extremes.  The feedback loop only kicks in from about 8-10.

My question is:  Is there a way to even out the response of the pot, so that turning int from 2-8 does something?  BTW, I'm using a 500k pot.

Thanks for any help!

Try a 100K pot. That's what I'd do, anyway!

hey,

about the volume control you should try add it to the line out and then earth the 3rdbpin on the pot.

if you want to see what mine turned out like search SCHIZIOD and you sould find it.
