Title: PLZ Help! if you can
Post by: R@bbiT on July 02, 2004, 06:37:14 AM
Recently I built a Ring modulator (The Fobricator) from Hollis page. In schematic there is used a dual op_amp as an oscilator and CA3080. My problem is that the second frequency (from the oscilator) is heard very clearly in the autput signal. I cannot get rid of that annoying buzzing. Is that possible to get rid of this second signal and what should I do? :?:

That's what the trimpot is for - tweak it for minimum bleed-through.

I know wkat is that trimpot for but  when I set it to minimum (second frequencie is the most quiet) it is not enough it's too loud. And what i am asking here is if it is possible to completely get rid of that anoying noise?

I'm not familiar with that circuit, but traditionally it's pretty hard to get a small amount of carrier bleed-through with ring modulation circuits; it usually takes a much more complex circuit to get satisfactory results.

I don't think you'll get it completely quiet, but a search (wha-hey!) of the archives yielded

maybe that's a direction.
