Title: What do you guys think? Bench DMM
Post by: ExpAnonColin on July 31, 2004, 05:12:26 PM

It's got everything I want and then some (frequency counting!  woo!) but $68 is just too little for such a feature-packed device that's "High-accuracy".  Anyone have any insight?

EDIT: Think, not thing

its no-name.

Stuff like that comes on all the time.  At first I thought you said it was expensive, then i re-read your post.  I dunno man, should work.  I dont think the price is _that_ low...considering you see DMM's on e-bay all the time for sometihng like $1+ship.  And they work.

Cant tell you if the accuricy will be as good as they say, though.

Hal, this is desktop, though, and it's harder to find cheap desktop ones..  And most of the cheap ones have V, A, and R, this one has all of the above plus quite a bit more...  Which explains the higher price.

Certainly seems like a good deal, but it probably won't be as accurate as other supplies. Still, with no branding it's certainly possible to get a good-quality meter out for that much.

yea, maybe i didn't word it right.  I mean, its a toss up.  It looks cool :-D whether it will actually perform as advertised, maybe a weatherman can answer :-D

good luck if you do get it.   :!:

The only thing that jumps out at me is....

Ack     no auto-range function! (I love auto-ranging meters)

And how slow can it count, or what is the lowest frequency it can read with any accuracy.

Here's the full specs: http://www.victorelectronics.com/specifications/vc8045_specs.htm
It would suit me fine.
BTW, I dislike autoranging, because the impedance can vary between ranges. Sometimes, that's a problem.

I did not know that. Thanks Paul!

I was just looking at that same webpage today.  I've never used autoranging, and I can certainly live without it.  I think I'll pick one up.  The company is Windows Media Player approved :)

The accuracy looks good, if it lives up to the specs, then now I'd say go for it :)

And hey, you can't go wrong if they're Windows Media Player Approved.
