Title: JFET Blues, Help needed !!
Post by: MartyMart on August 20, 2004, 04:27:50 AM
Hi All,
Just starting to build the Sonic Distortion from GGG and don't have the 2N3904 J Fet !  I have some 2SC1815's, which i think can be used and also some 2N5457's and 2N5459's, i dont know the pin out changes required, or does one of these match the 2N3904 ??
Help ! I'm not so confident with trannies yet ! (i dont mean the ones who dress as women of course! )
Thanks,
Marty. :(

2N3904 is not a FET. It is a NPN silicon transistor. You can sub it with 2N5088/89, 2N2222, 2N4401, MPSA18, BC108, BC109 and other NPN.

Yes, you can use the 2SC1815's instead of the 2N3904's shouldn't have any problems, just know the the pinout on the 2SC1815 is ECB, and not EBC like the 2N3904.
