Last week-end, I found a nice shinny cigarette box with a nice engraving on the front (illegal stuff...).
I was looking for a metal box to put in a FET preamp cable. This will be used only with my chromed Dobro guitar and will be installed on the guitar strap.
You can see the pcb with only the 2 jacks installed. All I have to do now is make/transfer a layout and etch it to complete and wire the pcb.

The cover is spring loaded, so it will be easy to change the battery, once every 5 years... I think I will also put the pot in there, but make it easy to adjust the gain or volume if I need to.
I found a nice site that shows how to make such a box from hard paper. But some thin metal could be used as well.

Anyway, that was to give you another idea if you're looking for a different box for a small project.

That's nice to look at while you are enjoying a nice glass of wine.
That's a pretty sweet box 8) I want one too!!!
Yeah, too bad they had only one box left...

 Indeed, it looks like a glass of wine. Would you believe it if I'd say it's a candle light?...
When it was directly on a flat surface, there was too many reflections, so I had to find something to put it above the surface level.

Oh, it looked kind of like a large wine glass...
that looks very cool
kinda like a smokey, but a thousand times better...
the only problem i could see would be getting the jacks and everything mounted in place, as the only opening is pretty fiddley and tight, but apart from that, it loos brilliant

Don't worry, I also drink wine... but not that time. In fact, I agree that it really looks like a glass of wine, a really full one. I stated to laugh when I looked at the pictures again after I saw your post. And so did a co-worker who took a look at it...
About the jacks, the only easy way is to use pcb mounting jacks (neutrik for example) and slide the whole thing inside the box.
I also found a way to add an external volume by cutting a slot at the upper portion of the front panel. Just long enough to be able to slide the pot shaft in it and close the lid.
The knob will hide any portion of the slot in the metal.
