Title: RG: Frobnicator layout?
Post by: Rodgre on August 31, 2003, 10:59:16 AM
Quick question about the Frobnicator PCB layout on GEOFEX.

There is a thin line around the whole layout, which is segmented near the pads for off-board components. Is this a trace or should it be trimmed off of the layout for etching? I ask because on the side with the two LEDS, it would seem that the outline would short the LEDS together. I assume this needs to be trimmed. Correct?

Correct.  That is a trim line for outlining the board. If you use the magnify tool in PDF, you can see that the outline doesn't really connect to any other trace, although the spacing is quite small.

If your printing technique causes the outer real trace and the trim trace to smear together, yes, cut that outer trim line on the right hand side.
