Title: General Guitar Gadgets 'boutique bender' volume pot
Post by: arfy on November 23, 2004, 12:44:50 PM
I built one of these with Small Bear transistors and it has a nice tone and a broad range of distortion available from the 'dirt' pot.  But damn, this thing is a big boost in level, it uses a 500K log volume pot and the other bender versions seem to use a 100k, I suppose I should just try a 100K volume pot.
Will this color the sound?
The 'boutique' version also has a 500k trim pot in front of where feedback is applied to the base of the third transistor.  I'm finding so far I like it turned so there is a lot of feedback because this pedal really produces a lot of distortion, has anyone else built this pedal and found any sweet spot or mod for that part of the circuit?
I'm going for Cream/Black Crowes type sounds with this pedal and so far it seems like it'll do that kind of thing pretty well but it's a little touchier than a somewhat tweaked fuzz face I made.

 >>>Probably not very noticably, using a large pot, sometimes a small high pass capacitor can be used to let the highs through, the high resistance may attenuate highs very slightly.
