I was recently asked maybe if I could try to fix a pedal for a guy. It's a Bennett Labs Boost-e-a, which he bought used and which seems to have some sort of "fuzz-problem". I've just talked to the guy - so I haven't heard nor seen the pedal in question.
I saw on the company site that the booster may be equipped with Ge transistors to get a more "fuzzy" sound.
If I where to fix this pedal - is it just question of a substitution of trannies? In that case - which Si transistors?

Sorry I don't get around here much.
I would get me a 2n5089 and use that.
Most of the time the tranny is the problem,
but make sure the 330 ohm resistor is ok.
I had a few (about 100) that had a mechanical weakness at the leads near the body.
