I remember seeing some cables before where the outer covering was just heat-shrink. I wanted to make some really short cables with 90 degree ends for a pedalboard and I thought that might be cool, especially if I could save some bucks instead of getting switchcraft ends. Anyone know who sells these ends?
Hi. I buy those metal-with-a-spring plugs, and some 3/8" or 10mm heatshrink. The heatshrink is a bit small, so first I stretch it (to about 1/2 inch) by slipping it over the end of my pointed nose pliers and opening them. Make up the plug as usual, slip on the heatshrink, and use a hot air gun for a great lead. I reckon my leads are better than commercial quality.
hope that helps. cheers
Thanks for the reply, Brett. I'm not familiar with the metal and spring plugs. Does Mouser carry that? I want to wire up my pedalboard and I figure this might be more economical and neater.
