Title: modding pedals for bass??
Post by: mongo on November 11, 2005, 06:12:31 AM

Hi,

I know that guitar pedals work with the bass, but I've seen some specific MODS  for turning effects to BASS use, such as changing the input cap etc etc.

what range of values I should experiment with??  in my case, I'm trying to make an OPAMP big muff and a ross phaser to work nicely with a bass.

Thank you in advance,

Andy

1 µf / 2.2 µf input cap isa sometimes enough; for output I usually use 10 µf (just to be sure).

Sometimes filters need to be adjusted (double the cap value) and tone sections altered (experiment with the Duncan amp tool)

Sorry, I forgot to put in a link (http://www.duncanamps.com/). Check out the "software download" section and search for the "Tone stack calculator"; a very nice and handy tool!

Hi, does this method work with most pedals? Thanks

Hmmm, yes. Sometimes a too high cap can overload the following transistor (as in the Big Cheddar); just experiment with the settings.
