Title: Boss BD-2 mod (remove the fuzz?)
Post by: Theo on December 07, 2005, 05:58:25 PM
Hi,

I just modified my Blues driver with changing a diode and a few capacitors..
Its very close too great but to fizzy / fuzzy..

I tried a diode change from the keeley site but changed it back since it made it even more fuzzy.

What should i do to get rid of the fizz? this pedal is soo good exept just that.

Any help appreciated :)

Thanks, Theo

if changing one set of diodes to a single (for assymetric clipping) made it worse - maybe its the clipping you dont like.

try replacing the diode pair on either side with leds, or try disconnecting one diode on each side of the clipping control.

this will increase your volume a little bit as well (more boost)

I like to use the BD2 in conjuntion with another OD, rather than try to get all the distortion from the BD2. A TS type works well, but try anything else you have. Try changing the order of the two ODs to see which you prefer.

There should be a clipping HFrolloff cap, connected where the diodes connect [across the diodes], increasing the value of that cap, slightly or more will take fizzy/fuzzy out of it and make the clipping less harsh to dull sounding.

Lowering the gain is nice too on a BD-2...
